At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech and make our way to the coastal city of El Jadida, an ancient Portuguese city that will transport you back to the 16th century as soon as you set foot in it.
After approximately 3.5 hours travelling north, we'll arrive at El Jadida, also known as Mazagan by its Berber name. It's considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.
Upon arrival, you'll have 2 hours of free time to explore the city at your leisure. To start with, we'll drop you off at the imposing Manueline Cistern, inside the fortress of El Jadida and designed by Portuguese architect João Castilho. Its arches, columns and pillars will leave you completely speechless.
Afterwards, we recommend visiting the fortified citadel, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its mix of cultures is perfectly reflected in its architecture, cuisine and lifestyle. As you walk among its walls, in addition to following in the footsteps of the Jews who sought refuge here in the 14th century, you'll enjoy incredible views of the sea.
During your visit to El Jadida, you'll also see the Great Mosque, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Jewish mausoleum, the city market and the Andalusian Palace, a hotel that showcases the best of Moroccan architectural styles. The doors, columns, tiles and painted cedar ceilings will capture your attention.
You can also take the opportunity to stroll along the easily accessible beaches of El Jadida, where you can enjoy a relaxing swim in a very special setting. The best place to enjoy the sun and sea!
Finally, we'll meet back up and return to Marrakech, where we'll finish this 9-hour day trip.
